Human reason ?
is a Muslim’s duty to submit to the laws of Allah believing firmly that
they are for his benefit whether he or she can see an obvious value in
them or not. It is not necessary for Muslims to demand a logical
explanation for every aspect of Islaam before applying it. But, it is
their right to be sure that it is not a cultural practice or innovation,
but an actual command from the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم himself.
‘Alee ibn Abee Taalib said, “If the religion (of Islaam) were based
simply on (human) reason, the bottom of the socks (Khuff) should be
wiped (during Wudoo) and not the tops, however, I saw Allaah’s messenger
wipe the tops of his socks and not the bottoms.”
